Mario Lopez Now Makes Underwear
Mario Lopez is the latest celebrity to add “designer” to his resume with December 1st’s launch of RatedM, a collection of underwear and loungewear. Mario says, “When we set out to bring this brand to life, we wanted to develop a premium line of men’s underwear and tees that outlasts trends. RatedM is fun, sexy, smart, and speaks to all types of guys.  We weren’t trying to be different, we were aiming to be better – we ended up being both.” 

I’m tempted to dump on Lopez because, frankly, the amount of celebrity lines that have come out this year — from Sofia Vergara’s  to J.Lo’s – has been one embarrassment after the next. And the men are just as guilty: Mark Anthony for Kohl’s? Come frickin’ on. I know it’s dark economic times, but let’s not sacrifice taste. However, I do think that, for whatever reason a celebrity decides to launch a line, it should remain small and category-focused. Because of this, I think Slater stands a chance.
