Chicago rap duo Fly.X.press (Qoo & Maynestreet) dropped “F Da Nay Say” on January 8th, a track, according to its site, produced by Kanye West and recorded at EMG. “Invest in your mind, your mind is power, if time is money, shit I’m saving every hour…the road to success is bumpy, but you could never stop.” The track’s can’t-give-up words are delivered in a sound that’s more Stone’s Throw than Maybach, which is to say a welcome change to the sos (same old sound) on hip-hop stations.  Check out Fly.X.press’s soundcloud page for more.  #nowplaying

If you’re watching Cycle 19 of America’s Next Top Model, you were probably wondering what happened to Nigel Barker and Mr. Jay, who were replaced by Bryan Boy and a stylist whose name no one will remember (except maybe Katy Perry). Well, Nigel has joined forces with Tyra’s ex-bully Naomi Campbell on her new modeling reality show, The Face. Talk about awkward.

He’s not alone. Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova also star. The premise of the show has to do with each of the supermodels nurturing a new face, and, ultimately, one of the team’s will emerge as the winner. Naomi’s klout in the fashion industry is, obviously, much greater than Tyra’s; thus, expect to see top fashion personalities guest star (Stefano Gabbana? Kate Moss? Can’t wait!). Tyra, alternatively, had done a decent job at positioning America’s Next Top Model as part of the fashion industry’s conversation — but mostly because there was no one doing it better. The Face is likely to fill that void.

At best, The Face will emerge as the leading modeling/fashion reality television series,  delivering on what Tyra has promised to do in the last 19 cycles: produce an actual working top model. At worse, The Face will join the graveyard of modeling shows (Make Me A Supermodel, Janice Dickinson’s Modeling Agency, Scouted, etc.).

Oxblood At Louis Vuitton Fall 2012
